The French Riviera on a Budget!
Montpellier is not really the Riviera. But it is close by, and it IS on the Mediterranean Sea.
Like most of this region, Montpellier enjoys 300 days of sunshine on average per year. But unlike Nice and the actual Riviera, Montpellier is not so much for the very affluent expat. At least that is my understanding before getting there. I intend to attend some language exchange groups and possibly take a couple of weeks of French classes, where I hope to meet a few locals and visitors.
